Reflecting on a Year of Challenges, Growth, and Gratitude

This year has been both challenging and profoundly meaningful for all of us at Tall Timbers Tree & Shrub Service. In 2024, we experienced an unimaginable loss with the passing of our founder, Dave Carpenter. Dave was not just the creator of Tall Timbers but also the heart and soul of our company. From the moment he started the business in 2000, he poured his blood, sweat, and tears into building something that would stand the test of time.

Through his vision and dedication, Dave grew Tall Timbers from a small family-run business consisting of a chainsaw and a truck into the best tree care company in Colorado Springs and Castle Rock. He instilled in us values of hard work, excellence, and a deep respect for the natural world. While his passing has left a void, his spirit continues to guide us. The legacy he left behind is now carried forward by his beloved wife and co-founder, Debi Carpenter, his two sons, Cory and Trevor, and his chosen family of dedicated managers: Brad Williams, Mark Kelley, Julie Bernardo, Dylan Schreiber, Kevin Kelley and personnel. Together, as a family and a team, we’ve worked tirelessly to honor his memory and keep his dream alive.

Dave’s influence can be felt in every branch we prune, every tree we nurture, and every client we serve. It’s been a year of reflection, resilience, and recommitment to the ideals he believed in. While the grief of losing him has been immense, so too has been the pride of carrying on his legacy and ensuring that Tall Timbers continues to thrive.

Celebrating Achievements Amid Adversity

Despite the challenges, we’ve achieved so much together this year. Some of the highlights include:

  • Completing City Projects: Supporting our local municipalities by maintaining healthy trees and addressing safety concerns.

  • Earth Day Creek Cleanup: Partnering with property managers to restore a local creek and make a positive impact.

  • Tree Planting Initiatives: Planting trees for the ROE Project and a local elementary school, creating a living legacy for future generations.

  • Workplace Longevity: Several employees achieved their 5+ year work anniversaries.

  • Winning the CAI Southern Colorado Golf Tournament: A testament to our teamwork both on and off the course.

  • Expanding Plant Health Services: Offering trunk injections to combat pests and enhancing tree health for our clients.

  • 24th Anniversary Celebration: Hosting our annual golf tournament and BBQ to commemorate over two decades of service.

  • Saluting Branches: Volunteering our entire fleet and crews to honor our veterans by caring for a local cemetery.

  • Supported the Care and Share Turkey Drive: Contributed to providing meals for those in need, helping make the holiday season brighter for families in our community.

  • Parade of Lights: Showcasing our holiday spirit in downtown Colorado Springs.

A Heartfelt Thank You

To everyone who has been part of our journey, thank you. Whether you’re a client, partner, or member of the community, your support makes all this possible. Together, we’ve honored Dave’s memory and embraced his dream of making Tall Timbers a trusted name in tree care.

As we approach our 25th year in business, we’re excited for what lies ahead. Here’s to another year of growth, service, and continuing Dave’s incredible legacy.

Happy New Year from all of us at Tall Timbers Tree & Shrub Service! 🌳
